How BookieFinder makes money

BookieFinder is free to use and carries no display advertising. It costs money to collect, check and host information on thousands of betting shops, and this page explains where that money comes from, so you can judge for yourself how much to trust what you read.

The short version

Some links on this site to online bookmakers are affiliate links. If you click one, open an account and meet the bookmaker’s conditions, the bookmaker pays Green Media a commission. You pay nothing extra. Every such link is labelled, and nothing in our factual listings is affected by whether a bookmaker pays us.

Which links pay us

Affiliate links appear in two places only:

1. Offer pages and offer cards. Each offer is marked “Commercial” and shows the bookmaker’s terms, minimum stake, expiry date and the age restriction. The button that takes you to the bookmaker is a tracked link.
2. “Visit site” buttons on bookmaker profiles, where a commercial agreement exists with that bookmaker. Where there is no agreement, the button links directly to the bookmaker and we earn nothing.

Tracked links go through an address on our site beginning /go/ before sending you to the bookmaker. That is how the click is counted. Our site tells search engines these links are sponsored.

What affiliate links never affect

• Which shops we list, or their details. Shop addresses and opening hours come from the bookmakers’ own published data and from our checks. No bookmaker can pay to have a shop added, removed or reordered.
• The order of results in the shop finder. Results are sorted by distance from the location you search, or alphabetically. There is no paid placement.
• What we say in bookmaker profiles. Profiles describe facts: licence details, shop count, history, products. A bookmaker that pays us gets the same treatment as one that does not, and the profile of a paying bookmaker will say so.
• Guides, calculators and the glossary. These contain no affiliate links.

How to spot commercial content

Commercial content on BookieFinder uses an amber label and the word “Commercial” or “Offer”. Informational content, including all shop and bookmaker data, uses the site’s green and cream styling and carries no such label. If you ever find a link you think should be labelled and is not, please tell us.

Offers and their conditions

Offers change frequently and every one has conditions. We show the conditions we have been given and the date the offer was last checked, and we remove offers when they expire. Before you act on any offer, read the full terms on the bookmaker’s own site; they take precedence over anything we show. Offers are available only to people aged 18 and over who are not self-excluded.

Why we work this way

Our purpose is to be a reference people can rely on. Readers can only rely on us if the information is independent of who pays, and if they can see where the money comes from. This page is part of keeping that promise.
